the christmas air is in the distance

We are getting ready for the Christmas season around work as well as the apartment.  I know, its only November 5, but I have a bad tendency of waiting til the last minute so I'm trying to get a jump start this year.

One of the things we do at work is a  Cookie Exchange during the Holidays. This year I'm going to try out AskAida's Toasted Coconut and Orange Icebox Cookies.   They sound totally FABULOUS! I will let you know how they turn out.

Besides that, we go out to dinner as a department and do the Christmas tree thing.  Busy busy I tell ya.

Damon and I are already planning out the tree, gifts, and decor as it gets closer and closer and things begin going on sale.  I must say this is my most favorite time of the year.

Nothing like fine dining!

the nip in the air is comforting

driving to work this morning with coffee in hand, it felt quite comforting to actually have a COAT on with the temperature gauge for the AC over the red part just a little. yea it was only 45 which isn't eskimo or guiness books worthy, but i know it mean red noses, scarves, long sleeves and cocoa are upon us.

I pulled out the first of the christmas decor this weekend. (yes i know, only november 2,) but really, I'm a christmas decorating fool. I love everything winter, christmas-y and lovely. I can't help it. And my goals are to make Damon a little more Holiday this year. :)

On all the blogs I read, the favorite things list is a must and I can say I have not offically done one before so here it goes (fall edition):

Baking/Cooking - a new found love.

The lights at night off all the sky rise buildings

Camarel Apples and Popcorn Balls

The rustling and color changing of leaves
Campbell's Chicken Noodle & Tomato Soups
Rosy Cheeks and Noses
Spending time with family and friends
Giving Thanks
Macy's Day Parade

i apologize

i haven't blogged in sometime. i know, i'm a bad bad blogger. anyhow many things have taken place since we last spoke.
I got the flu last week, i think. I just know I was REALLY sick, and I never get sick. So maybe I'm good for a while *knock on wood* After I was done, it was Damon's turn. So hopefully we are both through for the season.

Baby cat is totally back to her normal, hyper, unusual self.

I finally tried the Spicy Tortilla soup recipe. It was good, not my best, but it was good. Will try it again for sure.

Halloween is among us and decorating I think it near its cap in our apartment. Not quite Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase, but its enough for us. Just need a popcorn ball and caramel apple and I'm good.

I've got a super important training class for work next Monday-Wednesday. Wish me luck, my job counts on it.

I'm starting to watch more football and actually understanding and enjoying. Has it really happened? Have I actually converted? It scares me, because I never have ever been a football person. Go Cowboys!

killers and cake batter

I'm so glad that sweeps week is over and now the TV series have started again with new shows. I was getting utterly sick of reruns. And OnDemand only updates so many times a month. Damon and I have a ridiculous (or so it seems to me) amount of shows that we watch on a "regular" basis.

Monday:
How I Met Your Mother
Big Bang Theory
MNF (Monday Night Football)
The Closer
Tuesday:
NCIS (The REAL one, not the LA)
So You Think You Can Dance (I love this show for some reason, bc i can't "dance")
Hell's Kitchen
Addicted to Beauty (Oxygen)
Wednesday:
Criminal Minds
Modern Family (New Series)
Thursday:(by far our busiest)
Grey's Anatomy
Flash Forward (New Series, kinda like lost)
Project Runway (mine)
Bones
Mentalist
CSI
Friday:
CATCH UP!
I must say our DVR records always always. Because when we aren't watching a regular, NFL network is on or a football game. I used to hardly ever watch TV, but now it consumes my life.

I tried the Triple Chocolate Bliss cake last night. MMM its sooo chocolately and delicious. Perfect for the non-committed and even committed chocoholics.

ancho chiles and stitches

so since my last real "in depth" post about the happenings of mine and Damon's lives, many things have happened that I guess could be considered newsworthy material.

Baby cat Camille came home today from the vet. Damon picked her up this morning so I have yet to see her. She got all the typical baby cat things accomplished this last visit (spay, declaw, boosters, microchip, etc) It was very quiet around the house without her and I think the boys missed her dearly, but probably would never admit it.

~

I finally broke down and spent money on a bundt pan. Yes yes I know every REAL baker has one, but up to that point I didn't and kept talking about getting one, but hadnt. So now I have one and the first lovely recipe going in it is....

triple chocolate bliss cake

I also am going to make the Spicy Tortilla Soup out of my Food Network magazine. Yum yum, I can't wait for the turn out.
